Reminder… GCPS schools and offices will be closed on MLK Day— Monday, January 19— with students and staff returning to class on Tuesday, January 20.
The birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is observed as a national holiday each year on the third Monday in January. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
The commemoration of #MLKDay as a Day of Service is a call to act on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy as we work together to make our communities more equitable, build bridges, lead with empathy to address social issues, and commit to being of service to each other. Make Monday a day on, not a day off.
